EL Chupacabra is a mythical creature that resides in South and Central America. The creature is known to go onto farms at night and suck the blood out of the animals. The most common animal the El Chupacabra likes to snack on are goats. The creature is also known to attack cattle, chickens, and dogs. Nobody quite knows what exactly the creature is or how it was created. Some speculate the creature is a N.A.S.A. experiment gone terribly wrong. Others believe that it is the pet of Satan or some sort of alien. Whatever it is, it has been terrorizing the citizens of South and Central America since 1995, when the first EL Chupacabra was sighted in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is not only the first place El Chupacabra made an appearance; but is has the most farms being attacked by El Chupacabra in the world. El Chupacabra has become the third most popular cryptic animal behind only Big Foot and The Loch Ness Monster. Both of these cryptic creatures have been famous long before El Chupacabra even got a name. The descriptions of EL Chupacabra varies depending on who you ask; but one thing is always the same, this creature strikes fear into all who have heard of it, and especially all who have seen it.
History
Although the legend of EL Chupacabra only goes back to 1995, there is a legend, by the Native Americans of Central and South America, of a creature who came in the middle of the night and sucked the blood from their animals. Sound familiar? The Native Americans knew this monster as the "mosquito man" (Travel). This creature, according to legend, had a long nose that it used to suck the blood out of its prey, hence the name mosquito man. Time went on and in the early 1990's, more attacks where being reported in many Puerto Rican cities, one of which was Moca. Many speculated that the attacks were being caused by a creature who gained the name EL Vampiro de Moca (Travel). It was not until 1995 that this monster was named El Chupacabra.

Origin
Many people have speculated as to what El Chupacabra is and how it came to be. Some believe that it is the pet of Satan. They believe that Satan released the beast to terrorize the world and strike fear into their hearts. Another theory is that a dog was bitten by a vampire and now terrorizes farms; this would explain why El Chupacabra sucks the blood out of its victims. A third theory is that N.A.S.A. was working on a secret genetic based experiment, probably in Area 51, and it went terribly wrong. The creature escaped the laboratory and fled to safety in Central and South America. The last popular theory is that El Chupacabra was left behind by a race of ancient aliens and is now fending for itself. The creature would not know how to fend for itself in our strange environment and that is why it mainly attacks farm animals; because they are easy targets due to being caged up and have no where to escape to (Chupacabra).

He spent five years investigating the mystery of El Chupacabra. His investigations included him and a team doing various things such as interviews from eyewitnesses, forensics research, and a field expedition in Nicaragua. After his five years of research, he wrote a book about his discoveries. It is entitled, Tracking the Chupacabra: The Vampire Beast in Fact, Fiction, and Folklore. In his book, he explains the beasts' origins, history, sightings, and quite possibly, the answer to the question, "Is El Chupacabra real or fake?" (Radford).
